Organic Castor Oil is soothing and lubricating. It is a humectant that attracts moisture to the skin. It is routinely used in hair oils, balms, and other thick emulsions for the skin and hair. In combination with other oils and as a superfatting agent, Organic Castor Oil lends emolliency to soap formulations. It, however, should be used at a low percentage to keep the soap from becoming too soft.

Our Organic Castor Oil is filtered but is not refined.

Comments: While the oil itself is high quality — organic, cold pressed, and hexane free — I was very concerned to receive it in a soft plastic bottle. Castor oil is known to pull chemicals from plastic, which can contaminate the oil and undermine its purity and safety. This is a serious issue, especially for those using castor oil therapeutically or internally. I urge the company to switch to glass packaging to protect the integrity of this otherwise excellent product.

There is misinformation about castor oil being spread online.

We use HDPE bottles for the 32 oz. size of Organic Castor Oil that you purchased. HDPE is widely used throughout the personal care industry for storing oils, including Organic Castor Oil, and other products. It is recognized for its chemical stability, safety, and resistance to leaching when used in normal conditions. Whether you keep it stored in its original bottle or transfer it to glass, it's important to keep your oils, including your Organic Castor Oil, stored in cool conditions away from sun exposure.

We package the bulkier size in HDPE bottles instead of glass to help prevent breakage during shipment and to reduce shipping weight. This is particularly important for long-distance shipments of bulkier sizes such as yours. Glass poses practical risks during transit that we must carefully balance with product integrity and shipping safety.
