Tamanu Oil, also known in Africa as Foraha Oil , is obtained by mechanically crushing the dried nuts of the Tamanu tree. The Tamanu tree is typically found in the Pacific and in Asian Tropical regions.
Tamanu Oil soothes the skin and helps to relieve irritations including sun burn, inflammation and common rashes. It is hydrating and helps to regenerate skin cells. Research shows that Tamanu Oil is a strong anti-inflammatory. It is useful for the treatment of rheumatism, eczema and inflammatory skin conditions. The oil has been used for its ability to help heal cuts and wounds while also acting as a germicide to prevent infection.
Tamanu Oil is dark in color and smells similar to butter pecan ice cream.
Tamanu Oil can be used undiluted as a treatment for eczema, psoriasis, cuts and wounds or in cream and lotion formulations for general treatment of dry skin.

Location: Philadelphia, PA Slightly startled by the appearance of this even though it's described as dark colored. It also looks very thick and has a distinctive, though not unpleasant aroma. In spite of its unusual appearance, it felt very nice on my skin. I did not need to apply lotion for a few days after sampling this on my hands.

Location: Philadelphia, PA I purchased this after reading the other reviews of Tamanu Oil and have been very pleased. I used it on a scrape and felt it helped with quick healing. I have been mixing it with my regular lotion to soothe my winter eczema.

Location: Amsterdam, NY Soothing, not pore clogging. A little goes a long way. Has inherent sunscreen so it's great as a daytime moisturizer.
